The Bowen technique
The Bowen technique consists of a series of very light, rolling type of moves, which are mainly performed by the Bowen practitioner’s fingers and thumbs. The moves are applied directly to the skin or through light clothing while the client usually lies on a therapy couch, although it is possible to be treated seated. The moves are made at specific locations (not necessarily the areas where the actual pain is experienced!!) and there are frequent pauses between moves giving the body time to integrate each set.
Bowen sessions are usually an hour long and scheduled 7-14 days apart.
A deep sense of relaxation is often felt at the end of a Bowen session, so much so that some clients even fall asleep on the couch!
"I found that I had relaxed so much that I even fell asleep!"
