"Mariann's skill provided me and my brain a period of complete rest at least once a week."

What is it?
The Bowen technique is a very gentle soft tissue therapy, which stimulates the body’s ability to heal itself.
The Bowen practitioner uses soft rolling type movements with thumbs and forefingers to affect the underlying structures beneath. These moves are made at key locations (not necessarily the areas where the actual pain is experienced!!), which the body uses as postural reference points in order to realign itself. By combining moves, a trained Bowen practitioner is able to address the body as a whole, or target a specific problem.
The Bowen technique has been likened to playing a guitar – in plucking the strings of the guitar (muscles of the body), vibrations are sent through the nerves to the brain which is then able to detect if we are “out of tune”. If this is the case the brain responds by orchestrating a harmonic vibrational energy throughout the body, remapping it to the body’s blueprint of health. In contrast to other hands-on disciplines, where the practitioner imposes correction on the client through the technique performed, the Bowen technique allows the body to heal itself with minimal intervention.
